A familiar face from the Island Medical Program will be at the 2nd annual BC Mindfulness Summit, which will be held virtually on June 4 – 6. Dr. Maia Love (IMP Class of 2008) will deliver her keynote presentation “The Power of Mindfulness and Self Compassion – Facing Fear in Uncertain Times” on the event’s second morning.
After graduating from the IMP, Dr. Love completed her Psychiatry residency at UBC. She currently works as a wellness consultant and psychiatrist with a specialization in mindfulness-based strategies for happiness and success.
Dr. Love’s presentation explores elements of this year’s summit theme: mindfulness and self-compassion in a time of pandemic. The British Columbia Association for Living Mindfully (BCALM) event, which was developed in partnership with UVic Continuing Studies, will also explore this topic through a panel discussion, workshops, and yoga practices.
Registration is now open, and all health professionals and community members are welcome to attend.
