On May 7, the Island Medical Program will host an information session specifically for high school students in school districts 61 (Victoria), 62 (Sooke), and 63 (Saanich).
“We want to let local students know they have the option to earn their MD at the University of Victoria and gain clinical experience on the Island,” says Jessica Skelton, IMP admissions coordinator.
The session will feature a PowerPoint presentation about the program’s admissions requirements and timelines. Two current medical students, Arielle Roberts (IMP Class of 2021) and Emily Lerhe (IMP Class of 2022), will also speak about their own experiences of applying to and being in med school. The evening will end with a Q&A.
The event will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. in Room 150 of the Medical Sciences Building at UVic. The information session is open to everyone, including guardians and educators. Admission is free.
