Dr. Bruce Wright (Regional Associate Dean, Vancouver Island, Faculty of Medicine, UBC; Head, Division of Medical Sciences, UVic) is the new president of the Medical Council of Canada.
The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) assesses and evaluates medical graduates and physicians in Canada through standardized examinations. These exams were created to ensure physicians in Canada meet common standards and have the foundational skills to provide safe and effective patient care regardless of their specialty.
The MCC grants a qualification known as the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada, which is one of the requirements to gain a licence to practice medicine independently in Canada.
Dr. Wright will head the MCC’s governing Council for a two-year term.
